Ingredients and preparation of the famous italian winter drink.
Bombardino is an Italian cocktail made from three simple ingredients, it is very popular in the winter to get in the festive spirit or in the ski resorts to warm up after a day on the slopes. The name Bombardino come from the fact that is a real bomb against the cold because of its strong alchol content and because it is served very hot.
The popular apres-ski, or Christmas holiday drink is made by mixing and heating up Advocaat ( called Vov in Italy) with Brandy and it is served, in heat resistant glasses, with whipped cream on top. Advocaat is a creamy, rich liqueur made from egg yolks, sugar and brandy.
There are several variation of Bombardino, using rum or Limoncello rather than brandy or including a shot of espresso in the mix .
- 1.5 ounces of brandy
- 3 ounces Advocaat
- Whipped cream , to taste
- Cinnamon, to taste
Warm the egg liqueur in a small saucepan. Pour the brandy in a glass mug.
When the egg liqueur is hot (but not at boiling point), slowly add it to the brandy and stir well to combine.
Top the cocktail with a generous amout of whipped cream,and finish it with a sprinkling of cinnamom.
